Sunset Flowers

Caught a glimpse of these roses illuminated by the bright setting sun. The lighting created such contrast that no editing was required to get the background the dramatic black you see here. One doesn't often find those conditions--made it impossible to pass that chance up.


The following shots were actually the real reason behind wandering over to the vase of flowers with camera in hand; the sheen on the stems really was quite pretty.

Wind in the Willows

Took a trip to Denver with LH for a couple of days. We were just on the outskirts of the city, but it was still Denver enough to make me glad not to live there. 'Twas a wonderful place to visit, though, and provided some neat photo opportunities.

Dogs 'N Cat

Took a day trip with LH to pick up from the kennel and then watch her family's dogs. After being in a kennel for ten days, the silly mountain dogs were packed with energy, so we spent a great bit of time playing fetch with the rascals to wear 'em out. Naturally, Seighin the cat-dog had to join us outside and get his share of the photos.

It's a Redvolution

My family and I drove out to Wichita, Kansas to see one of our favorite bands--Thousand Foot Krutch--during their stint on the Redvolution tour. We also had the pleasure of seeing some more of our favorites and experiencing a new band. As we managed to grab a spot right in front of the stage, I had a chance to get some decent shots of most of the artists.

I did most of my shooting in black and white, since I tend to enjoy B&W concert photography.

Johnny Lujan, of Kiros. (Awesome new band. We had a great time during their show and chatting with them afterwards.)

My best shot of Manafest, as his lighting didn't agree with my camera. Though I was aiming to keep the photographers out of the frame, this is an instance where I feel the photographer adds to the general feel of the photo.

Trevor McNevan, lead of TFK. He moves constantly and quickly, so this happens to be the best I managed. I can't complain, though--it makes the show incredibly fun.

Joel Bruyere, TFK's bassist. We had ourselves positioned at stage left, so he happened to be the band member closest to me. As such, his photos turned out the best.

Clear Blue Skies

Tuesday was one of those days where we chose to set everything else aside, grab our cameras, and seek out some nature.

I haven't seen this canyon since 2009, I think it was. We discovered it then when we chose to hit the highway and just keep driving 'til we found something interesting. It's a neat little state park located way out on the plains. Not many folks know how to find, it seems, for it's never particularly busy.

'Twas a nice day--one in which I was inspired to take some photographs. It's a nice combination.
